Sepsis Awareness

This session will cover the required knowledge and understanding of a high profile subject matter that is affecting the health and social care sector considerable. It will equip learners with the essential information and abilities to recognise Sepsis and act appropriately if it is suspected.
Tissue Viability – Wound Management

Delegates will achieve a better understanding of the factors that affect wound healing rates. They will revisit the anatomy and physiology of the skin and will have a greater understanding of wound care products; how, why, when, where and what to use and when products are contraindicated. Delegates are advised to adhere to the local wound formulary (if there is one in place) and our tutors will explain generically what each category of dressing does and when it should or should not be used. The training course should enable the delegate to manage the majority of chronic and new minor wounds competently in order to promote healing rates.
Venepuncture – incl. Simulated Competency Assessment

This session will cover the theoretical and practical aspects of Venepuncture. The tutor will build on your understanding; including tutor-led activities, group discussions, practical demonstrations as well as practice simulations and practice related questions. Competency documents will be referred to throughout the course and a simulated competency assessment will be completed before the end of the session allowing delegates to return to the workplace and put to practice what they have learnt, until deemed competent within their organisations guidelines and protocols.
Catheterisation (Male, Female & Supra Pubic)

This session will cover all theoretical aspects relating to Catheterisation and knowing when use is required for Male, Female and Supra Pubic Catheterisation within practice. Using models, this session will cover all practical elements for Catheterisation and an update regarding products. By the end of the session, all delegates will be able to work in line with Practice Guidance for Catheterisation, demonstrate the principles of aseptic non touch technique related to Catheterisation and take in a proactive approach to catheter management.

People may sometimes behave in a way that is considered challenging and can be very distressing for the person, their families and carers. This session will explore the reasons theoretically as to why a person might be behaving in this way, enabling you as the primary care giver to feel more confident with enhanced skills to deal with these situations, explore why they may be occurring and how to minimise these, with the possibility of preventing them occurring.

This two day course will equip learners with the essential knowledge, understanding and skills associated with assessing a patient and their leg ulcers. It will provide learners with key information on the recognition, treatment and management of leg ulcers taking into consideration the assessment criteria and application of compression bandaging if the leg ulcers are suitable for this treatment regime.

The session aims to provide participants with the skills required to plan, deliver and evaluate good levels of personalised care within their own working environments and to understand and maintain the need for good documentation and record keeping. The growing demands of the Care Sector and the amount of cases of negligence is growing. People need to be skilled in the basic aspects of nursing care and record keeping so that lines of effective and production communication are maintained, empowering the care provider to be confident in the environment they work and the care they deliver.
