Net Zero Statement
Our Commitment to NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap
Ashfield Services is fully committed to supporting the NHS in its ambition to become the world’s first net zero health system, aligning with the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap requirements. We recognise the impact of our activities on the environment and will take responsible, transparent actions to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions across our operations and supply chains.
Our Net Zero Target
Ashfield Services commits to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045, with interim reduction targets of: - 50% absolute emissions reduction by 2030 (against a 2025 baseline), aligned with the NHS target. - Annual progress reporting to monitor and transparently communicate our emissions reductions.
Measuring and Reporting Emissions
We will measure and report our Scope 1, Scope 2, and relevant Scope 3 emissions in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. This includes: - Scope 1: Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources (e.g., company vehicles). - Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased energy for office operations. - Scope 3: Indirect emissions including business travel, employee commuting, purchased goods and services, and waste disposal.
Ashfield Services will publish an annual Carbon Reduction Plan in line with PPN 06/21 requirements to transparently demonstrate progress to the NHS and other stakeholders.
Actions We Are Taking
We will implement the following measures to reduce emissions: - Energy Efficiency: Transition to renewable energy in our offices, increase energy efficiency in our training facilities, and promote digital delivery of training where appropriate to reduce travel-related emissions. - Travel and Transport: Promote low-carbon travel options, encourage the use of electric or hybrid vehicles, and optimise scheduling to reduce travel needs for in-person training delivery. - Supply Chain Engagement: Collaborate with suppliers to encourage carbon reduction actions and prioritise working with partners who share our commitment to net zero. - Waste Reduction: Reduce paper and material waste across operations, increase recycling rates, and move towards paperless systems where feasible. - Education and Culture: Embed sustainability into our organisational culture, ensuring staff understand and contribute to our net zero goals.
Governance and Responsibility
The Managing Director (Matthew Attfield) has overall accountability for our Net Zero Strategy, with progress reviewed quarterly and reported annually. We will engage staff across Ashfield Services to identify and implement emissions reduction opportunities collaboratively.
Alignment with NHS Requirements
Ashfield Services will ensure: - We are compliant with the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap timelines. - We will publish when required, a Carbon Reduction Plan for contracts above £5 million per year. - We will submit emissions data and reduction plans as required for NHS tenders from April 2027 onwards. - We align our reduction trajectory with the NHS net zero targets for 2045 and 2030 milestones.
