The registered person must have suitable arrangements in place in order to ensure that persons employed for the purposes of carrying on the regulated activity are appropriately supported in relation to their responsibilities, to enable them to deliver care and treatment to service users safely and to an appropriate standard by:
Receiving appropriate training, professional development, supervision and appraisal; and
Being enabled, from time to time, to obtain further qualifications appropriate to the work they perform
People who use services are safe and their health and welfare needs are met by competent staff
Mandatory training is that which is required by law or professional requirements. In healthcare it is essential that high quality care is delivered, standards are maintained, and that staff are up to date. The CQC, Government and NHS outline standards which should be adhered to when working in healthcare both by care staff and the employers.
The NMC states that all Nurses should practise in line with best available evidence and maintain the knowledge and skills you need for safe and effective practice. As part of the revalidation process a Nurse is required to undertake 35 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to your scope of practice as a nurse in the three-year period since your registration was last renewed.
This is not a straightforward answer and ultimately the requirements will vary depending on the size of the care setting, its services and outcome from its own risk assessment on site.

Again, this can vary between settings depending on requirements of the service and their own risk assessment. Most mandatory courses should be updated every 1 to 3 years.
