Frequently Asked Clinical Training Questions
Clinical training helps health and social care professionals develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence needed to provide safe, effective and person-centred care. It combines relevant theory with practical instruction and may cover areas such as medication, clinical procedures, infection prevention and managing specific health conditions. Training should reflect current best practice, regulatory requirements and the needs of both the learner and the people they support.
Clinical training is suitable for anyone whose role involves delivering or supporting clinical care. This may include nurses, healthcare assistants, support workers, carers and other health and social care professionals. The training required will depend on the individual’s role, responsibilities, experience and the needs of the people they support.
We recommend refreshing clinical skills annually to help maintain competence and stay up to date with changes in guidance, best practice and workplace procedures. Depending on the course, Ashfield Services certificates are valid for either one or three years. Employers should also consider regulatory requirements, organisational policies and individual competency when deciding how frequently training is required.
Yes. We can deliver courses on-site at your workplace, usually for groups of up to 12 delegates. For subjects that do not require a practical element, we also offer live, tutor-led virtual training through Microsoft Teams. We can help you choose the most suitable delivery method for your team and training requirements.
Our Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training is Quality Assured by Skills for Care. We do not currently seek external accreditation for our other clinical, mandatory or specialist training. Instead, our courses are developed by experienced educators and undergo a robust quality assurance process, including regular content reviews and peer reviews, to ensure they remain current and aligned with best practice.
Yes. Where appropriate, our courses include simulated competency assessments, allowing learners to demonstrate their understanding and practise their skills in a safe training environment. Following the course, learners must apply these skills in the workplace under the supervision of an appropriately competent person, who can complete the final competency sign-off. Ashfield Services provides the necessary competency assessment documents to support this process.
Yes. We can help you identify suitable training based on your team’s roles, responsibilities and workplace requirements. Our courses are regularly reviewed to reflect current guidance and best practice, helping your organisation maintain a knowledgeable and competent workforce. While responsibility for compliance remains with the employer, we can provide training records, certificates and competency documents to support your compliance processes.
