Cheryl Angco Appointed Co-Chair of SCNAC South West Region

We’re thrilled to share that Cheryl Angco, our Clinical & Quality Assurance Team Lead, has been appointed Co-Chair for the South West Region of the Social Care Nursing Advisory Council (SCNAC) by Deborah Sturdy (CBE), Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care England. This is a well-deserved and significant milestone, not just for Cheryl, but for Ashfield Services as a whole.

About SCNACs & the Regional Advisory Councils

Social Care Nursing Advisory Councils (SCNAC) are structured across seven regions in England, each led by two Co-Chairs. These councils “ensure a stronger collaboration between other sector colleagues from workforce, research and HEIs and facilitate a greater number of voices to influence and shape work with NHSE ICB Nurse colleagues and their teams. These forums will act as touchstones for every ICB (Integrated Care Board) nurse, making sure social care nursing and the wider workforce are included in the development of nursing plans across all health and care settings.” – Prof Deborah Sturdy (CBE)

As noted on Care England, SCNACs facilitate multi-sector collaboration and help social care nursing contribute meaningfully to system-wide strategies. The Department of Health describes these councils as sharing “considerable experience, knowledge, innovation and wisdom” to inform nursing across health and care settings.

Cheryl Angco: A Leading Voice in the South West

Cheryl’s appointment as Co-Chair of the South West region marks her as a central figure in advancing social care nursing in her area. Together with her fellow Co-Chair, Cheryl will facilitate regional council meetings, bringing nursing leadership, educational experts, and frontline social care practitioners together to discuss priorities, challenges, and innovations affecting us all. Following the Government’s publication of their 10 Year Plan, the National SCNAC Priority for 2025 is the Professional Strategy for Nurses and Midwives. The SW SCNAC Regional Priority is a Prevention Project, which aligns well with both the 10 Year Plan and Cheryl’s qualification and passion for Public Health and Wellbeing.

This role underscores Cheryl’s leadership and her commitment to improving care standards and quality across the region. Her expertise will help shape meaningful discussions and influence policy and practice, not only within the South West but across the broader health and social care landscape.

  • Showcasing Our Values: This appointment embodies our values of leadership, quality assurance, and commitment to excellence in care.

From Cheryl in Her Own Words

“I am honoured to take on the Co-Chair role for the South West SCNAC and look forward to working with care professionals, ICB nursing leaders, and my fellow regional colleagues to elevate social care nursing practices throughout our region. I have been an advocate for the independent sector since joining it in 2012 and value this appointment to ensure all sectors of social care have a voice at the table.”

Congratulations, Cheryl, we couldn’t be prouder of you!
